WTF Frame by FTW

Viris/WTF frame gawa ni Frank Wadelton or AKA FTW. MTB Hall of Famer dahil sa contribution nya sa MTB community. Grabe ang rigidity ng frame na ito. Medyo mahal at so far ata 25 frames lang ang ginawa.

Someone posted a suggestion that I quantify my claims of stiffness. I only have this frame to test and here are my measurements.

The first image shows where I took my measurements. My set up has the lever adjusted with the pads to contact the rim at about 1/4 lever travel.

The caliper was "zero'd" with no pressure on the brake lever.

The bolt heads had spread 1.5mm. I did this test three times, the results were 1.0mm, 1.3mm and the maximum effort resulted in this final dimension.

for this test, I attached the BB shell ONLY to a 4" thick, 1700 lb. piece of steel in the shop (no flex here). I placed a ill-fitting piece of treaded rod between the drops with a nut on each side of each drop out. No washers were used and the nuts were slightly tightened (just enough so it wouldn't fall out yet would not alter result) .

I then stood on the dropouts and was able to flex the frame 9mm. Upon stepping off the frame, it returned to it's original postion (exactly) I stepped on and off the frame several times during this test. The result was typical each time. I weigh 197 lbs (89.3 K)

Oo naman, prototype palang yun pinapangarap ko na pero lubhang napaka mahal para sa pinoy. Sa looks medyo panalo.
