This time we explain to you an easier trick called Kangaroo, which means jumping on the rear wheel. There are two ways to jump on the rear wheel, Kangaroo or Pedal kick. We leave Pedal kick for next lesson since it’s more difficult due to the timing of your work with the rear brake and actual pedal kick. During Kangaroo you don’t have to care about it, because the rear brake is locked all the time.

The basic idea is to lift the front wheel up high enough! A good tip is to put your front wheel on a higher place, to easy up the first part of the trick. Find a step or bench (without people) or you start with Endo. Get some speed, lock the front brake (with feeling on it!) and lift up the rear wheel. As the rear wheel starts to drop, get ready and at the moment it touches ground, transfer your body weight backwards and pull up the bars. Then bend in the knees and push your body almost behind the rear wheel. You should be able to stay on the rear for a while before you let the front drop. Try this few times before you approach the actual jumping. To do the jump you have to lift your body from the position almost behind the rear wheel towards the bars. Your knees are stretched and feet tilt pedals to lift the rear wheel. This is one quick move for one jump! As you land you bend in the knees and you repeat it again. Don’t forget to lock rear brake all the time! It’s definitely easier to do the jumping in backwards direction. When you master it you shouldn’t have a problem jumping on a spot or to turn around while jumping.
